Sailing on the Adelaide We had the best time sailing with Dari and Victor on the Adelaide! While the sailboat itself is a little older, that was more than made up for with the hospitality! The snacks (homemade pico and guac) were some of the best we’ve ever had and we never went a moment with an empty drink. Victor even snorkeled with us to keep us safe and to point out the names of the fish! Thank you so much for a great day on the water! We would definitely recommend this trip and will come back next time we’re in Cozumel! Also the bathroom was clean and functioning which is always a plus on a 4-hour boat tour!
Amazing day! Could not have been better! Dario and his snorkeling partner Victor were amazing. The boat I s absolutely gorgeous and Dario makes sure you are comfortable the whole time. We starred off with an hour or so of sailing to our first diving spot. Victor was a great snorkeling guide and was helpful since it was my first time. He is very knowledgeable and made sure to point cool things out to us throughout the snorkel. Next we docked near a private beach where we were allowed to swim solo for a little. We returned back to a FANTASTIC lunch made my Dario. He is a fantastic cook! After lunch we went to a second dive spot where we enjoyed a little more time in the water. Also, I want to make a point to mention that these trips by Dario are kept small which makes it so much more enjoyable than a 30 person snorkeling excursion. Overall, I can honestly say everything was perfect, and I wouldn’t have changed anything! It was an amIng experience and I would definitely join Dario and his crew again!
Wonderful Time We had a semi-private boating/snorkeling trip with drinks, snacks, and a late lunch. It was WONDERFUL and the food was fantastic. Thank you very much for a lovely time out.
wonderful trip We had a private sailing trip for our family of four. The crew asked us what we wanted to do and accommodated us. Good food, good drinks, beautiful sail, great snorkeling! Would recommend!
Hmmmmm The Reef is Dead We took the ferry from Playa del Carmen and got to Cozumel dock aroung 10ish. Got a "glass bottom snorkle" trip right away. 760 pesos a person. The glass bottom is pretty much a gimmick and a wast of time. It's very small and used more as a storage place. There is so little to see and the glass bottom so small it's pretty useless. If a non-snorkler goes thinking the glass bottom will substitute, it probably won't. We knew the was rain in the forcast for the afternoon so just took the first tour offered. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, they just stick you on a boat that has space. We were on a small open boat with about 10 other people. We were the only non-Spanish speaking on the boat. The captain spoke good English so that was a plus. The boat provided snorkle gear. The gear was old and not in great condition but worked. There is someone from the boat in the water with a life preserver. They have snorkle vests that are ok. My husband wanted a full life vest as he isn't all that comfortable in the water. They wouldn't let him have a full life vest. He did get in the water for the star fish but wiund up hanging onto the lfe preserver the whole time. went to three reefs and the place that has star fish, then a shallow beach area ( but you don't actually go on the beach just knee deep water). There were fish but the reef is dead. It's a shame but tourism has killed the reef. The star fish were nice to see. There was a major storm with rain on our way back. Rough water and stinging rain. Nothing anyone can do about that. The boat did have engine trouble on the way back so that didn't help. Plenty of cheap beer. There was also water, local fruity soda and Pepsi. My advice is book in advance and pay more for a better boat and experience. This was pretty cheap and we got what we paid for. The reef is dead but there are a few fish to see.
Work hard like a Captain, but party like a Pirate on the SV Adelaide. I have sailed on the Adelaide with Captain Dario several times. This is still by far one of the best excursions on the entire island of Cozumel. Nothing is better than feeling the warm, Caribbean breeze on your face under sail and snorkeling in the turquoise waters. There is a 10 to 12 person passenger limit, so the excursion has always been relaxing and an excellent experience for most on board. It definitely has a private feel to it. This last trip I got caught up with the great sailing weather and living in the moment that I forgot my GOPRO camera. I was half way to the ferry terminal when Captain Dario notified the taxi drivers via radio, and I was able turn back to the marina to retrieve my camera. Sailing with Captain Dario and his crew has always been like sailing with friends and family.
BEWARE of CAR RENTALS in PLAYA DEL CARMEN for COZUMEL We bought a package deal in Playa del Carme for ferry tickets & a Jeep car rental for Cozumel to tour the island. The Jeeps were old, broken down. Gas gauges didn't work, bald tires, no window swipes, and their was little gas in the tank. They were nothing like what was pictured. DON'T book a rental car without viewing it first from no one! We were not able to get any part of a refund! BEWARE!
Fantastic Experience We had such a fantastic time with Dari and Dario. Cozumel was our last port of call on our cruise and the weather had been less than ideal the entire week. In fact Dari had emailed me the day before warning me that their marina had been closed all week due to the weather and they were not sure if it was going to re-open during our visit. Thankfully it did and she emailed us early that morning to let us know. It's a short taxi ride to the marina and I think it was $8, $10 with tip. I was a little confused about where the boat was exactly but Dari was quick to come over and locate us and escort us to the boat. Now the weather on Cozumel that day was cold by Cozumel standards. It started out int he upper 60s and cloudy and slowly worked its way up. When the sun came out it was very pleasant. As all the loud party/diving/scuba boats came by I was very glad it was just the 3 of us. Dari and Dario were very easy to work with and we loved listening to Dario regale us with stories of Cozumel and his life. His son (I cannot recall his name) was also on hand to assist. We could sail, swim, snorkle, whatever we wished. They had all the snorkle equipment including much needed wet suits for us. I really appreciated how Dario's son was our snorkle guide. He got into the water with us and led us around the reef pointing out various fish and objects while Dario circled us in his boat. My daughter is not a strong swimmer and I felt very safe with this arrangement. After we got out they made a delicious lunch and we opted to not get back into the water as it was just too chilly. We then sailed around and Dario pointed out other various reefs and fish as they went by. Once back at the marina there were tons of boats and tourists all trying to get back to the port. Dario walked out into the middle of the road, stood in front of a Taxi. The driver argued with him that she was there for someone else, Dario didn't care and the driver relented and we loaded up in the back and off we went. Wonderful relaxing time, perfect for a small group. Highly recommend you charter the entire boat. The cost was $75 per person with a $300 minimum.
Third year of fantastic sailing and snorkeling (and eating and drinking)! This was our third year sailing and snorkeling with Dario and Dari. We sat on the front of the cabin in comfortable lounge seats basking in the sun-you can sit in the shade if you prefer- as Dario sailed around the bay and ocean. He knows the area here perfectly. Dari made us excellent drinks and snacks, and a great lunch. She grew up in the U.S. so her English is perfect. We went snorkeling twice with our guide Edwin during the trip, and saw a lot of fish. The water was warm and clear. You can walk around the boat deck, looking over the sides and the front and see everything. I felt like I was in a Jimmy Buffett video. I have been on many sailboats and usually became seasick during the trip. I can drink and eat everything on Dario’s boat and never get seasick. We will definitely be back next year.
Snorkel trip Great, relaxing trip. Dario and Dari are super hosts. Food and drinks were awesome and plentiful. Would highly recommend
